The Industrial Representatives Association (IRA) was incorporated in the State of New Jersey in 1965, with Mr. James L. Farmer serving as the Association’s first president. Since that time, its industry members have been actively supporting the US Army’s Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) mission at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. With the execution of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) directive to move this mission to the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, the Association is now licensed to operate in both New Jersey and Maryland.
The mission of the IRA is to foster a professional relationship and understanding among its members and within the Army’s C4ISR Life Cycle Management community. The Association monitors the ever-changing requirements of government R&D, Programs and Support missions within this community through a series of monthly guest speaker briefings and committee activities; and follows policy, requirements and trends in the government acquisition system to better prepare its members to execute business development activities. Executive Committee meetings typically precede the General Membership luncheons which are normally conducted on the second Tuesday of each month.
The IRA currently has over 230 active members representing approximately 110 companies that provide products and support services to the US Army’s C4ISR Life Cycle Management activities in New Jersey and Maryland.
The IRA regularly conducts general membership meetings on
the second Tuesday of each month inviting Guests Speakers
from the US Army's Command, Control, Communications,
Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance
(C4ISR) community to discuss current and future
requirements that may be competed among the industrial
community.
Membership in the IRA is on an individual rather than a company basis. The requirements for membership include: actively calling upon US Army C4ISR organizations in a marketing capacity a minimum of six (6) days per month; paying $360 per year in dues (plus a one-time initiation fee of $50); and actively participating in the Association’s meetings and committees. An annual re-certification is also required to maintain membership in good standing. |
